Job summary

The Head of Credit Documentation is a key member of the lending value chain reporting to the Chief of Staff, Asia, he/she leads the team responsible for preparing, reviewing, legalizing complex/bespoke credit and security agreements for high-net-worth clients and maintaining relevant credit documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Document Preparation: Oversee and preparation of standard Lombard and bespoke credit facilities like life insurance financing, and single-stock / concentrated lending and other structured credit facilities. Templates to be agreed with internal Legal and other miscellaneous documentation tasks where required. (note: Real Estate “RE” mortgage documentation will continue to be covered by RE Line in Credit Structuring Team)
  • Risk & Compliance: Ensure all relevant approval conditions and/or covenants are included in credit documentation.
  • Negotiation: Independently liaise and follow up with internal and external stakeholders (eg. engage internal legal or external solicitors to ensure the perfection of documentation) to ensure timely completion of documentation.
  • Administration/Monitoring/Reporting:
    • Manage status overview for issued documentation and track their return.
    • Ensure any document deficiencies are accurately tracked and escalated
    • Manage lodgment of completed documentation for timely safekeeping, track for documentation perfection and maintain credit documentation files.
    • Periodic account monitoring, checking of credit limits, where relevant.
    • Perform documentation and other required checks for returned documentation to ensure completeness and accuracy, validate fulfillment of conditions precedent, perfection of collaterals and compliance with internal policies and procedures
    • Review of legal opinions (where relevant, with internal Legal) to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations for documentation requirements
    • Assist with the review of and update of documentation processes and procedures
    • Conduct /oversee periodic checks on security documents based on required scope
    • Provide effective support for credit documentation queries from Front Office
    • Conduct/oversee regulatory reporting on credit exposures eg MAS 610, MAS Survey, TBGS and mortgage loan retagging.
    • Assist with projects, UAT and contribute to the successful delivery and enhancements of systems and processes
  • Team Leadership: Manage, train, and mentor documentation specialists while improving workflow systems.
  • Communication & Contact

    - Contact for credit documentation and close liaison with Credit Structuring in Asia.

    - In charge of relations with Credit Documentation Geneva and with WM business line in Asia.

  • Legal & Regulatory

    - Comply with all applicable legal, regulatory and internal requirements linked to credit documentation.
    - Responsible for credit documentation in Singapore and Hong Kong booking and servicing in support of the Asia Chief of Staff.

Academic qualification / Speciality

Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, or any related discipline.

Level of minimal experience

11 years and more

Experience

Minimum of 10 years in Private Banking credit risk, with deep specific knowledge of credit documentation (Lombard, Insurance, Mortgage and Structured lending).

Required skills

  • Good knowledge of regulatory framework in Singapore and Hong Kong
  • Strong legal interpretation abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and clear communication for dealing with stakeholders as well as team members.
  • Good written, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, lead a team and work independently.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and able to multi-task and work under pressure.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to accept new assignments and challenges in a rapidly changing environment.
